The scale and proportions of the mirror are reflective of the existing architecture in the landmarked clock tower building. The curvilinear shapes in the mirror have continuity with the breathtaking arched windows in the apartment, thus creating a modern moment in a classical Italian Renaissance Revival environment.
The clear portion of The Leonard mirror, is made using 1/4" thick (6mm), 100% reflective ultra clear, low-iron mirror. Accents are Italian made antique mirrors, but we also offer back-painted glass options of any Benjamin Moore color. All edges are flat CNC polished and hand polished to perfection.
Backing is made using 1/2" thick (12mm), Baltic birch, which is painted black and polished, recessed by 1 inch (2.54cm) on all sides to give this mirror the "floating" effect. Other materials can be used upon request but will affect price and lead time.
What also makes this backing so unique, is our state of the art cleat hanging system that is CNC cut around at 45 degree, so you can hang your mirror perfectly flush with your wall at any 90 degree orientation. All of our mirror designs have 2 cleat cut-outs, engraved information such as logo, name of the design, name of the designer, dimensions, etc. Custom engraving is also available and will not affect price or lead time.
